Yesterday I had brunch with one of my close friends, she always seems to challenge me when it comes to my relationship with God. This time around she was challenging me to seek to ask the right questions when it comes to talking with God. Let me explain. It was a moment in my life where I felt stuck and that I had hit a wall, it felt as if I had plateaued. As we where talking I kept telling her how things where just not happening or where taking longer than I expected. Sometimes when something unexpectedly happens in our lives our first reaction is to ask God why. However, she challenged me to stop asking why. Instead ask how does God want you to respond. What is he calling you do? God has reasons for which he does things and sometimes we get so lost trying to figure out why that we miss the process. Trust God’s process.
“Because God in his wisdom comes to each of us in our own personal struggle and longings, and sovereignly touches our lives as we journey through life. By his Spirit, he opens our eyes to his infinite grace and mercy, drawing us into his embrace in ways that enable us to respond according to where we are on our own personal faith journey.” -Graham Buxton-
